The four facilities within the chemical and environmental characterization core offer instruments and expert services to characterize the behavior and properties of a wide range of organic, inorganic and biological materials, including:

  • proteins, DNA, lipids and other biomolecules
  • tissue, organic matter and small animals (such as insects)
  • semiconductor, optoelectronic and solar materials
  • nanomaterials
  • glasses, disordered solids and polymers
  • pharmaceutical compounds
  • ecological systems
