Description
The icpTOF 2R has a mass resolving power of 6000 allowing separation of interfering ions. A time of flight detector allows simultaneous determination of elements across the periodic table in small sample packets every 12-50 μs, making it optimal for fast transient signals such as individual nanoparticles, fluid inclusions, or laser ablation pixels. It has optimized sensitivity to improve image resolution with high signal-to-noise. It will allow studies of co-occurrence of elements in individual nanoparticles to probe chemical reactivity. Note the instrument detection will be constrained by the number of atoms available in a particular sample packet, so trace detection will not be as good as in conventional solution mode ICP-MS, and isotope ratio measurements will not be as good as MC-ICP-MS.
