Trace Metal Clean Lab

Description

The Trace Metal Clean Lab provides a safe environment to prepare samples with the lowest possible blanks for later analysis.

These clean chemistry laboratories are designed for trace element sample preparation under metal-free conditions and supporting functions. These laboratories include > 40 linear feet of ULPA-filtered Class 10 laminar flow/exhaust workspace for ultra-clean sample preparation and acid distillation. The workstations are housed in a ~ 900 sq. ft., positively pressurized clean laboratory with ULPA-filtered air supply, routinely maintained at Class 10,000 conditions. This lab was built with “metal minimal” construction practices and has no exposed metal surfaces in the lab interior. Workstations and other cabinetry in these clean laboratories are constructed of polypropylene and other corrosion-resistant materials. Dedicated partitioned spaces within this lab are available for acid distillation, gravimetric determinations and sample spiking for isotope dilution procedures. An adjoining metal-free laboratory of ~ 350 sq. ft., maintained to a Class 100,000 specification, is used for support functions such as acid cleaning of plastic labware. Ultrapure water is piped throughout these labs.
