Biosciences Regenerative Medicine Education and Outreach

Education and outreach

To enhance the knowledge and skills of ASU scientists and students, the Regenerative Medicine Core facility presents several opportunities for research and learning. We host seminars, instrument demonstration opportunities and workshops to introduce new instrumentation and technologies.

Instrument training can be scheduled through iLab or contacting the core manager directly. Below, you can find a list of our upcoming and past events.

TEC Talks

The TEC Talks — meaning Technology, Expertise, Collaboration — seminar series, presented by ASU Core Facilities, focuses on cutting edge technology and its practical application. The objective is to drive innovation in discovery, from project conception and funding through data analysis and publication. The goal is achieved by addressing scientific problems with customized solutions and fostering collaborations between researchers and core facility scientists.

ImageJ/FIJI Image Analysis Workshop

YouTube

The Arizona Imaging and Microanalysis Society hosts an annual conference every spring. This annual meeting provides a forum for members to discuss research and exchange ideas, as well as an opportunity for learning about new techniques and concepts. This workshop will focus on analyzing microscope image data using ImageJ/FIJI as well as reviewing ethical limitations to image manipulation.

Tracking pH in Oocytes with Live-cell Confocal and Ratiometric Imaging

YouTube

Brian LoManto highlights the live-cell microscopy providing insight into the dynamics of biological processes. This approach can be combined with a wide array of fluorescent, live-cell probes which give intensity or spectral read-outs of cellular physiology with temporal resolution of seconds or less. This project looks to determine if human oocytes at the GV, MI, or MII phase have the ability to modulate their pH in response to media composition changes. This event will be held via webcast.

ASU’s Multi-Modal Core Labs Stimulate True Interdisciplinary Research

YouTube

Dr. Guida highlights the impact that access to multi-modal core facility resources has benefited his interdisciplinary research. This seminar is hosted by the Regenerative Medicine Imaging Facility which is part of the Advanced Light Microscopy Core within the Biosciences division. The RMIF provides a range of light microscope systems including various modalities such as fluorescent widefield, confocal, multiphoton, live cell and light sheet microscopy.

Expanding our Toolbox seminar series

Expanding our Toolbox: A Series of Biomedical Instrument Seminars and Demos

This series of seminars and demos provides a platform to review equipment that has been highly requested by researchers at ASU. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and utilize advanced research instrumentation. Data collected from these demos can be used for future shared equipment grants and other funding mechanisms.
