Core Facilities seed funding pilot program
ASU Core Research Facilities are launching a pilot program to support development of research projects utilizing Knowledge Enterprise-managed core resources. This program targets researchers who:
- Have submitted proposals to funding entities, but were unsuccessful due to the lack of a critical piece of pilot data
- Are currently developing proposals and wish to have more convincing data to make the argument attractive
Application deadline
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed by the Core Facility operations director(s) within two weeks of submission. If needed, we will seek further review by research deans, chairs or directors of respective units.
Submit applications to [email protected]
Eligibility
The lead applicant must be an ASU faculty member or academic professional. Only one application is permitted per research team per sponsored funding opportunity (RFP). A team may consist of single or multiple researchers. Projects that overlap significantly with those funded by other funding programs are not eligible.
Funding
The maximum award per application is 10% of the anticipated budget for KE Core Facilities services. This can be divided among multiple facilities in proportion to budgeted spend on each facility if requested at the time of application. Funds may not be used for special materials purchases or other nonstandard expenses outside the scope of what is included in established core services. Awards will expire on the date of planned submission for the intended sponsored funding opportunity.
Expectations
In some cases, facilities may require involvement of core staff in development of pilot data/proof of concept to ensure the greatest chance of success. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this in advance with the Core Facility operations director. As a condition of the award, awardees are expected to inform the Core Facility operations director of the proposal outcome and honor budget commitments to facilities.
