Get started

All users must have an account on iLab in order to request services or schedule instruments and training.

Required safety trainings

Initial training is provided through Workday Learning. Customers from outside of ASU will receive access after onboarding with Core Research Facilities staff. Contact [email protected] with any questions.

Once you have access, you will need to complete the following training before working in our labs.

• Fire Safety
• Hazardous Waste Training
• Laboratory Safety
• Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogens

To submit samples

We currently accept sample types ranging from tissue to prepared libraries for sequencing on either the Illumina MiSeq, NextSeq or NovaSeqX Plus instruments. See specific run modules and library preparation workflow offered on iLab.

The turn-around time for any given project depends upon the exact services requested, but our average is three to four weeks.

• WCPH530 – Freezer outside the door of 530. You will need your SunCard for access.

To create a NextGen sequencing request

1. Sign in to iLab using the button in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
2. Go to the Desert Southwest Genomics Center page on iLab (under Arizona State University – Biosciences header).
3. From the facility page, select the “Request Services” tab.
4. Click the “request service” button next to “Illumina NGS Request.”
5. Fill out the following form and click “Submit request to researcher” when complete.

To create a microbiome sequencing request

1. Sign in to iLab using the button in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
2. Go to the Desert Southwest Genomics Center page on iLab (under Arizona State University – Biosciences header).
3. From the facility page, select the “Request Services” tab.
4. Click the “request service” button next to “Microbiome NGS Request.”
5. Fill out the following form, and click “Submit request to researcher” when complete.

To create a long read sequencing request

1. Sign in to iLab using the button in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
2. Go to the Genomics Facility page on iLab (under Arizona State University – Biosciences header).
3. From the facility page, select the “Request Services” tab.
4. Click the “request service” button next to “Long Read Sequencing Request.”
5. Fill out the following form, and include experimental detail, sample type, number of samples, number of samples being sequenced on the Revio SPRQ, sample multiplexing, and bioinformatic analysis along with affiliation and payment information. “Submit request to researcher” when complete.

To download your data

As of July 2026, we have changed our data return method from BIOFTP to Globus. The links below provide instructions for downloading your data through Globus. Contact us if you have any problems or questions.
