The Solar Fab periodically conducts a weeklong educational class affectionately dubbed “SC-101” (Solar Cell 101). The mandatory safety training required to work in the lab is basically one day by itself, and then the participants actually make solar cells, create a mini module, and test the cells and modules along the way. Interspersed through the hands-on portion are periodic lectures on various aspects of solar.
Class tours or visits to the Solar Fab are also encouraged for anyone who wants to learn about cleanrooms or solar cell fabrication, characterization, and testing.
